Our mission is to help students develop a strong foundation in American Sign Language, and to plan and participate in Deaf cultural events. We strive to empower students with opportunities to develop a positive self-image that is based on linguistic, social and personal identity and to develop respect for diverse groups of people.
ASL classes are offered to all students in the PK-8 department daily throughout the school year. ASL and Deaf studies modules are integrated into core subject areas through push-in services by the ASL Coordinator. ASL classes are also offered to staff, community members associated with ISD, and to families of ISD students.
